All Black Everything

Amanda Sanders

In the early 1900s, black evolved from a mourning color into a color we cannot live without. Coco Chanel’s little black dress started the phenomenon that is black accepted in fashion and it has been dominating our closets ever since. That being said, we notice how often we are buying and wearing black clothes and start to view it as a bad thing. It is not a bad thing. Black is a safe and easy color to wear and not to mention it looks great on all body types and skin tones. There is absolutely nothing wrong with wearing black (I wear black almost every day) however, it must be executed properly so you don’t look like you are going goth or fashion confused. You do not have to give up black, just do it right. Here are some add ons to complete black outfits!

BIG NECKLACE

If your black top has high neckline, adding a big necklace will bring sparkle and color to the look. If your shirt is very simple, you should add a long necklace to accentuate your look on a larger scale. It's easy!

VESTS

Vests are a great way to add texture and sometimes color into your outfits. Vests also make you look chic because it adds a layer.

JACKET AND CARDIGAN

Like the vest, jackets are a simple way to add more layers to your outfits and give opportunities to look fashionable. Same goes for cardigans but typically cardigans would be for a more conservative work look while jackets will come off more street style.

LIPSTICK

When all else fails, if you are in a full black outfit you can never go wrong with adding a colored lip to brighten your outfit and look less dull. Red lipstick is great if it’s the afternoon and a dark plum is great for night time looks!
