DRessing for Success

It’s not always about playing the part that will get you where you want to be, but it’s also about dressing the part! This may sound silly as clothing shouldn’t make or break your career, but what you wear on your body really will help you succeed in the long run, especially if you’re looking for that promotion.

Unfortunately for women, even though times have progressed, it can still be harder to get the promotion over a male counterpart and you don’t want the reason to be because of how you dress. Frumpy clothing is not an option, especially in a corporate setting.

You might be thinking that if you don’t work in the fashion industry you don’t need to be fashionable, but the opposite is true. If you want to have a high powered position in a corporate setting (or not) you need to dress for success in clothes that fit well, look expensive and help make you look even more confident than you were before.

Fashion is fun and a great way to show your personality. However, there are certain pieces that are non-negotiable for someone working in corporate setting looking to get promoted (or not).

The first item is a classic suit. Whether this be a skirt or pant suit, the choice is yours, but a classic well-fitted suit in a neutral color is a must. Paired with great pumps and a chic bag and you have an outfit that you will make you feel and look your best!

The next essential is a great watch. A lot of people today have stopped wearing watches since it’s easier to check the time on your phone, and while that may be true, wear a watch as more of a fashion accessory than a way to tell time. A great watch will make it seem like you have your stuff together and are ready to take on the world, which are important qualities for someone in a high powered job!

Lastly, every woman should have comfortable yet killer pumps. Yes, flats are more comfortable, but they don’t look nearly as good. A beautiful pair of pumps will make you look taller and more powerful and if you find the right pair they will be just as comfortable as spending the day in flats, while also giving you an edge up on everyone else in your office.

There is no doubt that finding the right clothes can be a challenge, but that is where a personal stylist can help pull the best pieces for your body that are suited to the environment you work in. As a busy professional, time is important, which is why a stylist in the long run can save you time and money by finding the clothes that will work best for your lifestyle and pulling them for you so that all you have to do is try them on and take them home. Don’t worry if the pants might be a little too long or if the jacket needs to be taken in, at the styling sessions there will be a tailor on-site to take the right measurements so that the items can be tailored to fit you. The clothes you wear should never be the reason that you don’t progress professionally and with help from a personal stylist it never has to be.
